Harsdorf church becomes a rough construction site

The small church congregation is pleased to report that the financing is in the bag. At present, the bell tower is rusted in. The interior work is also being tackled, which means that the house of worship will have to be closed off. As an alternative, the believers can then use the hall in the community center "zur tanne".
The first work has already begun on the roof of the 45-meter-high bell tower. Graduate engineer erich luthardt from iplan gmbh in kulmbach does not consider the stability of the main structure to be in danger, but the experienced structural engineer points out that some of the joints in the wooden structure have loosened and that the support sills of the rafters are badly damaged or have rotted away completely, especially at the corners. The formwork on which the slate is fixed is also moderately to severely damaged. "In addition, the storm "kyrill" in january 2007 tore down several slates and flashings. However, this damage has been repaired in the meantime, so that the roof is currently watertight again."
Architect karlheinz greim calls the renovation project and the overall design of the church a "great task". Ceiling work had to be carried out in the church nave. The plaster on the stuccoed wood-beamed ceiling is cracked in several places and has even come off in some areas. These areas were examined more closely by restorer and church painter uwe franke from wernstein and an expert from bamberg. "This is one of the most difficult jobs. First of all, the load-bearing capacity is to be restored, and then the ceiling is to be restored in terms of church painting", greim explains, according to which the entire church will be completely repainted.
